MLD can be a very useful tool to add to the massage therapist's modality toolbox. There are many conditions that can benefit from supporting and encouraging proper movement of lymphatic fluid, which in turn enables the massage therapist to approach their clients in a way that can change the outcome of their treatments. It allows the massage therapist to take an easier approach with their bodywork schedule and be less of a strain on the body, particularly the hands and wrists. Understanding the lymphatic system will enable you to educate health professionals, colleagues and potential clients in the importance of a healthy functional lymphatic system and how that in turn maintains homeostasis and most importantly, allows you to work with almost any condition that you may be presented with in your clinic.
